This War Memorial, a bronze plaque mounted on a boulder, is dedicated to the memory of the Eltingville residents who served in World Wars 1 & 2. It once stood opposite the Eltingville train station on the west side of Richmond Ave, near Sylvia Street. For years the “Eltingville Plaque Association”, a small group of residents from the area, maintained the Memorial and the grounds surrounding it.
It eventually was transferred to the care of the B.P.O.E. 841, The Elks Lodge on Richmond Ave. near Arthur Kill Road and has a place of prominence in front of the building; a reminder of our neighbors who helped to keep us free.
